I collect very little. What you give me, you give me on purpose — by filling in a form or asking for something. I don't sell it, I don't trade it, and I don't hand it to anyone who isn't helping me run this website. You can ask me to delete it at any time and I will.

The message box is the one worth thinking about. Some people write a sentence; some people write a great deal more. Share what feels right to share. I read it, and I don't need your medical history, your financial details, or anything you'd rather keep close in order to be useful to you.
Like most websites, this one records some technical information automatically when you visit — the kind of device and browser you're using, roughly where in the world you are, which pages you looked at, and how you arrived. It's collected in aggregate, and it tells me things like "the About page is being read" rather than anything about you personally.
Cookies and similar small files are used to keep the site working and to make that measurement possible. Your browser can block or delete them; parts of the site may behave oddly if you do.
I don't use your information to build a profile of you, and I don't make automated decisions about you.
If you're on my email list, it's because you asked to be — by requesting something or by ticking a box. Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, it works immediately, and using it costs you nothing. You'll still get the practical replies you need if we're in conversation about working together.
If you're receiving email from me and can't remember signing up, reply and say so. I'd rather take you off the list than have you wondering.
I use a small number of companies to actually run this website and send email. They handle your information only to do that work for me, and they aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Beyond that: I don't sell your personal information, and I never have. I don't trade or rent it either. The only circumstance in which I'd hand it to anyone else is if the law required it of me.
The companies above are based in the United States, so that's where your information is stored. If you're writing from elsewhere in the world, that's worth knowing.
I keep what you send for as long as it's useful for the reason you sent it — an ongoing conversation, an active email subscription — and then I don't. If you unsubscribe or ask to be removed, I remove you. Anything I'm legally required to keep, such as records of a transaction, I keep for as long as that requirement lasts.
Whatever your local law does or doesn't entitle you to, this is what I'll do if you ask:
Write to [GENERAL CONTACT EMAIL] and I'll reply within thirty days, usually much sooner. I won't make it difficult, ask you why, or treat you differently afterwards.
If you're in California, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have specific statutory rights along these lines and the right to complain to a regulator if you think I've mishandled something.
This site runs over a secure connection, and the companies I use hold their own security protections. I'll be straight with you though: no website is perfectly secure, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. I keep the amount of information I hold small, which is the most honest protection I can offer.
This work is for women navigating the second half of adult life, and nothing here is directed at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent me something, tell me and I'll delete it.
Where I link to someone else's website — a Facebook group, an article worth reading — I'm pointing at something I thought was useful. Once you're there, their privacy policy applies, not mine.
I'll update this page when how I work changes, and the date at the top will change with it. If the change is significant, I'll say so directly rather than quietly editing.
